I would always read stuff like this and never really click with it
Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Arsene Wenger.
I grew up reading about these people. The documentaries and interviews, the quotes about "obsession" just like this clip doing the rounds right now. The grind of waking up at 4am, taking every loss personally.
I'd read it, maybe feel a tad inspired, and then get on with my life. It never actually clicked. Tbh, part of me assumed it was some kind of performance art, something successful people say in hindsight to make the grind sound a bit romantic.
Then I started building
@PolyStationApp, and I finally get it.
Nobody tells you obsession has nothing to do with discipline. I don't force myself to think about PolyStation, I can't stop. I wake up with a burning desire to improve, my notes app is full of 2am ideas I know i'd forget if i didn't write them down. Tbh, my friends are sick of hearing about it. Valid, probably.
But it's the most alive I've ever felt.
Every quote or clip I scrolled past was just someone describing this exact feeling after finding their thing. I hadn't found mine yet.
Now I have.
POLYSTATION ENTERTAINMENT™
As it turns out, the formula for being a high performer is incredibly simple and incredibly hard at the same time show up every day, do the hard work, bring your best, and expect the same from the people around you.
It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to be an athlete, founder, streamer, or comedian. The formula is the same. The difference is just the specialization.
That’s how you compete with startups 10x bigger than you or people with more resources than you.
And you hope the people you’re competing with slow down, get distracted, make excuses, or surround themselves with people who are incompetent
Most people aren’t built to operate this way consistently. That’s what separates good from excellent.
