Whigham Stadium, Sanford, FL Seminole Stays Perfect, Pulls Away From Apopka 43-18 SANFORD — The undefeated Seminole Noles made their home district statement Friday night, rolling past the Apopka Blue Darters 43-18 at Thomas E. Whigham Stadium to move to 6-0.  Prep Prospect Report Media was on site for the Seminole County Game of the Week as Karl Calhoun Jr.’s club extended its winning streak and kept the Sanford program inside the state top 25. Apopka, in Year 2 under head coach Marcus Neeson, dropped to 2-4 after a pair of mid-September wins had the Darters trending the other way.  The final on the Seth & Marie Bernstein Field scoreboard read BOKEY 43, BLUE DARTERS 18. Seminole controlled the line of scrimmage after a fast start and answered every Apopka punch in the second half. Seminole jumped in front early and built a 21-0 cushion before Apopka got on the board late in the second quarter. The Noles added a field goal and another touchdown in the third, then closed it with two more scores in the fourth. Apopka found the end zone three times — including a late touchdown — but never got the stop it needed to slow Sanford’s tempo. PLAYER WATCH @danielproenza7, QB, Seminole (Jr., No. 12) The Spruce Creek transfer continues to run Calhoun’s offense. Proenza was already the Noles’ leading rusher per game and passing-TD leader entering the week, and he was a Week 5 player of the game after the Mainland comeback. Friday he again set the tone as Seminole’s dual-threat centerpiece.  @luh33z , RB, Seminole (Sr., No. 😎 Buckner scored the game-winner at Mainland a week earlier and remains one of four Seminole backs with 100-plus rushing yards this season. The senior power back is the closer in this backfield. @KaiGoodlingQB, QB, Apopka Fr., (No. 6) The freshman accounted for three touchdowns in Apopka’s 28-7 win over Horizon and kept the Darters’ offense functional against a top-25 defense. He is the name to track as Neeson’s rebuild continues.  @jaylenlaster_6, WR, Apopka (So., No. 7) Laster was a touchdown target in the Horizon win and is one of the few proven explosive pieces left on a young Apopka roster. Also worth the clip: Seminole’s defense posted 73 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 2 interceptions in the official stat dump after the game.
