The RBI just raised the repo rate to 5.50%. It is the first hike since February 2023. The Sensex fell about 500 points. I think the hike is the least important number from today. Read the next tweet.

The second thing is the stance. The MPC moved from "neutral" to "calibrated tightening". In plain words, the committee is telling us the direction from here is up and the pace will be slow. Governor Malhotra also said rate cuts are off the table in the near term.

The RBI has raised interest rates by 0.25%. I think this is already priced in, so it would be better to focus on the commentary.
