If you run merchant acceptance: would you treat Muse as a wallet, a bot, or a new channel?

I’d treat it as a bot until it carries a credential I can dispute.

1/ The CFTC FAQ update is being sold as "big crypto news for October." Read the actual FAQ. It's narrower than that, and more useful. Photo: G. Edward Johnson (Wikimedia Commons)

5/ If you work in payments or collateral, this is the part that matters: tokenization is allowed inside the customer-fund and recordkeeping rules, not outside them. That's how T-bills, money market funds and settlement records move on-chain without it being a science project.

6/ What to watch next: who puts customer cash into tokenized permitted investments, who moves their books on-chain, and whether the White House review sends the market-structure rules back intact.

A mandate is permission before the agent moves. A receipt is proof after it does. Most demos show the spend. Few show both records still agree an hour later.

Taiwan does Mid-Autumn right. Mooncakes, a full moon, and the excuse to actually sit down with people. Hope your evening is unhurried. Happy Mid-Autumn from Taipei 🌙 🚀” #midautumn #owlpay #tothemoon

PayPal just put checkout inside an AI shopping agent. That is not a payments product yet. It is a mandate product: who authorised the spend when Muse picks the wrong cart.

Receipts close the loop after spend. Mandates open the loop before it. If your agent stack only keeps one, disputes will invent the other.

A receipt proves the agent spent. A mandate proves it was allowed to. Most stacks ship the first and call it policy. Which one does yours actually store?

A mandate sets the spend limit. A receipt only shows what cleared. Agentic commerce inherits that layer. It does not invent the policy. Who signed the policy before the agent moved? #agentic

Repeat buyers are the product. If the agent still needs a human to unlock the next payment, you shipped a demo, not a rail.

Most agent demos fail the same way ATMs would have failed if every withdrawal needed a tutorial. The rail that wins is the one that feels ordinary. What still feels like a wallet lesson in your agent checkout?

Alchemy just wired Mastercard Agent Pay into AgentCard. One product, two jobs. A stablecoin wallet for the new agent protocols. One-time Mastercard credentials for the merchants that still only take cards. The useful bit is not the CLI. It is who still owns the spend. Limits, categories, and merchant rules stay with the user and the issuer. So when an agent picks a rail, ask who owns the dispute. Here that answer is still the issuer and the network, not the wallet.

Most people assume the cash machine is an American idea. It isn’t. On 27 June 1967, outside Barclays Bank at 20 The Town, Enfield, London, comedian Reg Varney fed a punched paper voucher into a hole in the wall and walked off with a £10 note. That was the world’s first operational cash dispenser. The US followed two years later. Historic England later listed the 1897 bank at Grade II. The original machine is gone. The story isn’t. Britain never adopted ATM as everyday speech. Lloyds turned Cashpoint into a generic. Everyone else just said ‘hole in the wall’. The first machine needed a paper voucher, a four-digit PIN and a signature. John Shepherd-Barron wanted six digits. His wife said she couldn’t remember more than four. That is why your PIN is four digits. Want the listing, the plaque and the gold machine? Amex published a kit for giving software a scoped keycard. Three specs are live. Two are still being written. The interesting question is not the protocol. It is who eats the bill when the agent overspends?
