It’s 5:00 a.m. here in Korea. This morning, I’m praying for Israel and for the nations of the world. There are times when it feels like our enemies are closing in around us, as though we are completely surrounded, and the forces of evil seem far too powerful. But when we open our eyes in faith, we see Someone who is there: God, who is still at work among us. When the enemy surrounds us, there is One who surrounds the enemy. The army of God. — 2 Kings 6:14–17 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. - When everything seems lost and our hearts are filled with despair, there is Someone who reaches out and takes us by the hand. God, open our eyes so that we may see the horses and chariots of fire You have placed around us. Open the eyes of our spirits. Do not let us be surrounded by our problems. Let us be surrounded by Your grace. Keep our eyes fixed not on what we see around us, but on what You are doing, even now. May we always live surrounded by the grace of the army of God that encamps around us. Israel is not alone. Those standing against Islamic extremism are not alone. Those standing against communism are not alone. — Psalm 3:6 “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.” We do not have to be afraid, because our Father is with us. He surrounds us and stands beside us. The very One who created every nation and every human being is with us. So we will not be afraid. We put our trust in Him. Our hope is in Him. Because our Creator, God Himself, is with us. And I believe: The God who turns the impossible around, the God of great victory, will soon reveal an incredible story before our eyes.
