CRYPTO THIS WEEK
October 12–18, 2026
I went through what’s coming up this week, and a few developments stood out. US economic data could move markets, ETF flows will show whether institutional demand is weakening, and several projects are making moves around token value and traditional assets on-chain.
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
✧ US inflation data and crypto ETF flows
✧ Evernorth’s expected Nasdaq debut under XRPN
✧
@Ondo expands into tokenized private markets
✧
@PythNetwork directs DAO receipts toward PYTH purchases
✧
@chainlink expands cross-chain DeFi infrastructure
✧
@Securitize brings tokenized exposure to US stocks
✧
@OKX and ICE pursue a tokenized stock trading venue
✧
@The_DTCC prepares its tokenization service
✧
@Liquid_BTC works toward restoring BTC redemptions
◈ US ECONOMIC DATA
September CPI is scheduled for October 14, followed by PPI on October 15 and import-export price data on October 16. The results could shift expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts and influence crypto market sentiment.
◈ EVERNORTH AND XRP
Evernorth completed its business combination and expected to begin Nasdaq trading under XRPN on October 12. It reported approximately 473M XRP and $300M in expected gross cash proceeds before expenses.
Its valuation relative to the XRP it holds will be worth watching.
◈ ETF FLOWS
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $681M in outflows, while Ethereum ETFs lost around $542M in the latest reported week. Solana ETFs also saw outflows, ending a 14-week inflow streak.
The next reports should show whether institutional withdrawals continue.
◈ ONDO ENTERS PRIVATE MARKETS
@OndoFinance announced tokenized exposure to private companies, starting with a pre-IPO AI company.
These products use tokenized notes rather than direct shares, so holding them does not automatically provide shareholder rights. Product structure, liquidity and actual trading demand will determine how useful this market becomes.
◈ PYTH’S PURCHASE POLICY
@PythNetwork’s DAO approved directing 100% of the funds it receives from Pyth products toward PYTH purchases.
Pyth reported $11.5M in annual recurring revenue in September, up 86% quarter over quarter. The distinction is important: the policy covers funds received by the DAO, not all gross product revenue.
◈ CHAINLINK’S CROSS-CHAIN EXPANSION
@chainlink launched CCIP Vault Adapters, allowing supported DeFi vaults to accept deposits from more than 80 blockchains while remaining on their home chains.
The next thing to watch is adoption and how much capital actually uses the infrastructure.
◈ TOKENIZED US STOCKS
@Securitize announced tokenized exposure to major US companies, including Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft and Tesla.
Separately,
@OKX and ICE filed with the SEC to pursue a venue for 24/7 trading in tokenized US stocks. The proposal is not yet an operational market, and regulatory approval remains a key step.
◈ DTCC’S TOKENIZATION SERVICE
@The_DTCC is targeting October for a service that would bring eligible securities onto distributed ledgers while preserving existing ownership rights and investor protections.
The launch date and initial scope still need confirmation. This is worth following because it involves established financial-market infrastructure moving toward tokenization.
◈ LIQUID NETWORK RECOVERY
Following September’s exploit, reports indicated that around 3,400 BTC had been returned, with roughly 600 BTC still outstanding.
Transfers have resumed, but BTC redemptions remain suspended pending reserve restoration and security reviews. The recovery is not complete while redemptions remain restricted.
I’ll be watching the economic data, institutional flows and whether these developments translate into real adoption or stronger token economics.
That’s it for this week. See you on the next one.
