Every clip of him that goes viral is him doing this same “white leftist vs. Black leftist” dichotomy, as if there’s some meaningful functional distinction beyond claiming that Black people possess some special political insight by virtue of being Black....
FD Signifier expresses his frustration with the fact that a white leftist like Hasan Piker spoke with two Black liberals before someone like Marc Lamont Hill. He highlights the broader issue of Black leftists being sidelined on mainstream platforms: "Even Marc Lamont-Hill is being systemically excluded from having the same conversations with these niggas that they just let Hasan have, and that's what pisses me off. It bothers me that Byron Daniels could be on the Breakfast Club, Candace Owens could be on the Breakfast Club. All these Black capitalists and Black Republicans can be on the Breakfast Club, but when they want to speak to someone left of liberal politics on that platform, it cannot be anybody Black. Same thing with this MSNOW conversation. They could have called Marc Lamont Hill. They could have called Deante Kyle. It bothers me that it took Hasan Piker, a spicy white man, to insert these politics at this level. There's a growing group of progressive Black figures who are emerging in the mainstream but they cannot get platformed on the Black platforms."
