When I was a 9 year old boy my dad signed me & my brothers up as foundation members of the @freodockers back in the summer of 1994. I remember bursting out in tears when he told me as I went for west coast who’d just come off the back of the 94 flag. I was at an age where you still did as your parents told you so I put on a brave face & rolled up to my tiny wheatbelt primary school the next day-which was eagles heartland & told everyone I now go for freo-It was brutal. My dad supported Claremont in the WAFL & loved going for the underdog was his reasoning. Unfortunately he passed away in 1996 but my mum still took me & my brother to the footy every week as a way of remembering our dad. Those first 10 years were brutal, getting belted every week, but we kept turning up. I’m now 40, a father myself & to say thanks to my mum for everything I’m taking her to the grand final 😊 Dare to dream! #foreverfreo 💜
