Four years ago, Hurricane Ian changed Southwest Florida forever. Communities, neighborhoods and the familiar landscape were transformed. Four years later, signs of recovery stand alongside reminders of the storm’s lasting impact. Today, LCEC remembers Sept. 28, 2022, and recognizes the strength and resilience shown across Southwest Florida.

Ever wonder what happens at an electrical substation? Substations play an important role in delivering reliable power across the LCEC service territory. Electricity arrives from the transmission grid at a high voltage, and transformers at the substation reduce that voltage so it can safely travel along distribution lines. From there, electricity makes its way through the local distribution system, traveling through a service line to the meter that measures energy use. It’s all part of the journey electricity takes to power homes and businesses every day. #Reliability
