#LincolnNews - Lincoln Police released new information regarding Tuesday evening’s shooting that left a 19-year-old Lincoln woman dead. Police identified 37-year-old Tyler Benzel as the suspect. Lancaster County Jail records list his charge as first-degree murder. The victim and others were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with Benzel’s wife, which authorities believe was initiated by his wife. Benzel left his home, walked toward the group, told them to leave and made verbal threats before raising a gun and firing. The confrontation and shooting happened away from Benzel’s property. Officers arrived within moments and found the woman with a single gunshot wound. They performed life-saving measures before she was taken to a hospital, where she died. Officers recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene, but forensic testing is needed to determine whether it was the gun used in the shooting. They are not aware of any other weapons being involved. Benzel was cooperative when officers arrived, and authorities said he and his wife did not know the group before the altercation. Benzel’s wife has not been arrested or charged. The victim’s name has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

#LincolnNews - A 19-year-old Lincoln woman died after a shooting Tuesday evening. Police responded around 7:20 p.m. to a disturbance involving juveniles near North 47th Street and Cleveland Avenue. While officers were interviewing people at the scene, they heard a gunshot about a block away near North 46th Street and Madison Avenue. Officers found the woman with a single gunshot wound and began life-saving measures. She was taken to a hospital, where she died. Police said the woman had been involved in the original disturbance. One person is in custody, and investigators are speaking with multiple witnesses.

#LincolnNews - Lincoln Police are investigating a shooting that injured a man around 11 p.m. Wednesday night in the 100 block of Trenridge Way. The victim told officers an unknown person shot him after a brief argument. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made, and LPD says they don’t believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

#LincolnNews - A 33-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash involving two motorcycles Friday night in northwest Lincoln. Lincoln Police said the motorcycles were traveling south on NW 1st St near W Grand Dr when they collided around 7 p.m. One driver suffered minor injuries. The 33-year-old was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
