We are extremely saddened to hear that O’s legend Mickey Bullock has passed away, aged 78. Whilst at Orient, Mickey made 308 appearances, scoring 69 goals. The club send their deepest condolences to all of Mickey's family and friends at this very sad time. #LOFC #OneOrient

Parsons and Sharp were then buried at Fireman’s Corner in Highgate Cemetery. In 1934, a memorial for the firemen buried there was purchased and their names were duly inscribed.

An inquest was held soon after the funeral and a verdict of "Accidental Death" given. Fireman George Bryant stated that in 26 years, “I have been to several hundred fires and I never saw a wall go out like it[…] As it fell it came in one piece and crumpled up in two seconds".

One hundred years on, we continue to remember and commemorate Parsons' heroic life. His fascinating life story was featured in the matchday programme for last years' #LOFC match against Oxford, which was played on Armistice Day.

Likely inspired by his teammates, Parsons enlisted in September 1915 and served as a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery over in France. His service is commemorated on this plaque (originally unveiled on 24th February 1917), which currently hangs in the Supporters' Club.

Seven days later, a joint funeral was held at St. John’s Church, Hackney for the two heroes, whose coffins were draped in the Union Jack, their helmets and magnificent floral tributes. Over 2,000 people came to pay their respects, including firemen from every station in London.

A falling wall - later described as built "like a sausage" - fell on Parsons, taking his life, as well as that of Henry George Sharp of the Salvage Corps.

The fire in question took place at Japanol Enamel Works on Kingsbury Road, Dalston. As the building contained large amounts of oil, varnish, turpentine and paint, the blaze spread rapidly. It was reported that barrel lids were sent flying huge distances in the air.
