Official Statement from the Libertarian Party The Libertarian Party does not condone calls for political violence or the initiation of force. The organization in New Hampshire currently making violent extremist comments is not affiliated with the Libertarian Party and does not speak for our party. The Libertarian National Committee disaffiliated that organization in May. The Libertarian Party Judicial Committee later unanimously rejected its appeal. The official Libertarian Party affiliate recognized in New Hampshire is @GraniteStateLP. The Non-Aggression Principle is a fundamental core of libertarianism. It is not optional, and it is central to what our party stands for. All members of the Libertarian Party are required to take the Libertarian Party Membership Pledge: “I hereby certify that I oppose the initiation of force as a means of achieving political or social goals.” Political and social change must be pursued through peaceful, voluntary means — not violence, threats, or aggression.

Only the Libertarian Party trusts individuals to achieve their own goals with their own means. Government can only exacerbate social conflicts and amplify economic costs.

Joint statement from the Chair and vice-Chair of the Vermont Libertarian party: The calls for violence by the now disaffiliated and fraudulent political club known as LPNH are antithetical to the core of libertarian beliefs. This republic was founded upon the idea and ideals of equal rights for all people and a government by the consent of the governed. The founders placed numerous checks and balances in the new Constitution to ensure continued peaceful transitions of power because they had just fought and sacrificed so greatly. The Granite State Libertarian party is the correct and proper affiliate of the national Libertarian party, and we welcome our new neighbors with glad hearts and goodwill.

Only the Libertarian Party maintains the individualism of sound philosophy and economists while the old parties descend to the collectivist impulses of selfish ad hoc partisanship.

Developers should not be required to set aside any number of units as "affordable" units. However, the cartel of single family home owners that dominates most municipalities in Connecticut should not have veto power over the plans of how their neighbors intend to use their own private property. Rather than choosing sides between two statist constituencies the General Assembly ought to let the free market do its job.

Whether its municipal police or the President of the United States, the unrestrained scope of the executive branch should be alarming to all Americans at all times.

The only true break can happen when CT Legislators decide that they are spending far too much money for any sustainable organization that relies on forced payments for income.

The Libertarian Party is the only political party that preserves the true liberalism of our country's greatest founders like Jefferson. Only Libertarians trust people to be personally responsible with their own decisions and own lives without government interference.

Politicians and police unions scream "safety" as if the world was a horrific place before the state put a camera on every street.

The Libertarian Party of Connecticut is the only political party in our state that decisively opposing traffic surveillance cameras and all of the government abuses that come with them. Its worth remembering that representatives from New Haven led the way on getting these things passed into law. New Haven needs a whole new set of politicians.

Add this to the list of issues on which libertarians were correct from the beginning.

The majority of Americans who are neither Republican nor Democrat ought to consider the existence of an opposition party as their greatest political priority.

The burden of proof should always be on the state. This is true for proving guilt in criminal trial and is equally true for the state to justify its legislative work to a jury. Jury nullification is a valuable piece of the checks and balances that preserve individual liberty.
