We now know the Tories will put the interests of unscrupulous landlords over those of private renters. Speaking at the Conservative Party conference, the Shadow Housing Secretary told an audience that our transformative Renters’ Rights Act ā€œhas to goā€. Only Labour will guarantee the security, rights and protections the Act has given private renters.
From PA, at 5:26pm. Katie Lam has suggested she would scrap the Labour Government’s Renters’ Rights Act. The shadow housing secretary told a fringe event at the Tory Party conference that the legislation ā€œhas to goā€. From PA, at 6:13pm: A Conservative source said she had been speaking in the broader context of the restrictions and challenges faced by landlords, and this was not a policy announcement.

Another massive step forward on leasehold reform from this government!
Leaseholders across the country are being routinely gouged by freeholders and managing agents acting on their behalf. This Labour government is taking on vested interests to protect leaseholders from exploitation. Today, we’ve announced we will cap exorbitant administration and permission fees and legislate for the independent regulation of managing agents.
