🧵An Honest Reflection On Secret (2021 - 2023) 10,500,000. The # of txs processed on $SCRT since 2021🤯 Secret folks are quirky. Some would say: "...rough around the edges, maybe a little scarred..." The truth is, we are emerging from a TOUGH 2 years. We had projects disappear. Builders close up shop. Community members DEEPLY upset with each other & leadership. Things were closer to "bad" on average than "good". A lot of mistakes were made. While people like to say "...the past doesn't define you..." realistically, I think the 2021 - 2023 era left a lasting mark on Secret. People view this network differently now (often for the worse). Secret Agents that used to call this place home have gone off to other ecosystems - carrying stories about the negative vibes / energy of Secret. They correctly identified Secret carried a significant amount of disfunction & friction as an ecosystem. This was/is humiliating. It isn't fun to realize that people don't view us in a great light. Especially when many of us have bled to keep the needle moving forward. But the truth is, we did it to ourselves. Despite these mistakes, I feel genuine HOPE 6 years into this journey of Engima/Secret🙏 Here's a couple of reasons why ⤵️ ------------------------------------------------- We're more cognizant and protective of the community pool 🛡️ New leadership understands that the standard required to hold our trust is quite high🧾 The developer community are a united tribe that are increasingly collaborative & helpful🏗️ As a community we've become more aware of the shortcomings of people. A higher level of suspicion. Our humility is greater than before - there are other privacy projects also building. We've doubled down on the technical & privacy roadmap😎 Our desire to be part of the broader Cosmos is vastly improving with privacy as a service & more liquidity integrations 🎉 The core of the community never truly left through the brutal bear💪 You'll notice it is extremely rare to see folks change their pfp away from an @AnonsNFT - it isn't a coincidence. Privacy culture cuts deep. ------------------------------------------------- As we enter a potential bull market, if I could leave you with anything from this post it would be this: The past cannot be undone for Secret Network. Despite this, there are some INCREDIBLY talented + brilliant builders/community members/leaders freshly at the helm of Secret. We REFUSE to give up on the mission of spreading privacy to all of Web3. We're stronger than before, and humbled. Perhaps more than most ecosystems, we know how to have fun in the face of impossible odds. As such, I'd invite you to swing by @SecretNetwork chat.
