GenM friends, here's another episode of Understanding Genlayer with me. In this Episode, I explored Making Genlayer secure part 2, I looked at the part one in my last episode. Today, we'll looking at the 5 types of tests explored in the Making Genlayer 100% secure part two. 1. Example-based-Tests-: This is a test humans write down in advance with a specific example. For example when you put 2+2, you expect the answer to be 4. There are 3 components of the example based test; they are: I. Solidity tests: to check their smart contracts II. Go-tests: to check their validator nodes III. Executor teats: to check GenVM 2. End- to-end runs of the whole stack: In this test, you run the real thing exactly like it'll run in production, using a real chain: real contract, real validator nodes and real GenVN, hence, eliminating the limitations of the example based which does mock test. 3. Conformance and stimulation testing: The idea behind this is to stop relying on human imagination by introducing a recipe. What's the recipe? Take one real component and put a fake world around it, and hit it with thousands of random but valid scenarios. 4. Mutation Gate: The big question is what, if my code is broken, will my testa actually shout? Many tests suite are green forever, but they are useless- they would stay Green forever even if the code is broken. 5. Formal Models: The major problem with other layer is that they can only find a bug, they can never stay that there is no bug. Formal models fix that. In summary layer 1-4 try to find holes and fail. If you've have ever had any reason to be in a Court room, you'll know how expensive and rigid the judicial system is. The most interesting moment that caught my attention while listening to the Unchained podcast with @laurashin, @GenLayer CEO Albert Castellana, and @flop_labs CEO Arthur Hayes was when the host threw a question to Albert Castellana asking him what have him the idea to launch Genlayer and his response was mind-blowing. @kstellana responded that he once had a company he co-owned and at some point they lost about $150M and they had to seek legal expertise and started talking to lawyers, it was then he discovered that the legal system is broken, slow, rigorous and expensive. Had a proper convo with Mochi today and something finally clicked for me. Started with “what’s GenVM?” Turns out most blockchains live in a sealed box. GenVM cracks that box open. It keeps the trust, but adds the ability to read the web and reason with AI. I followed up: “Can GenLayer exist without it?” “No,” Mochi said. “You’d lose the judgment part.” That’s when it hit me, this is how you build a “court for the internet”. Most hackathon projects die the moment the hackathon ends. Mainnet is drawing close on @GenLayer So if you're building in the Agent Tank Hackathon, don't settle only for the demo. Look into what happens after. A working prototype is the entry point. The bigger questions are: b 1. Can you turn it into something people actually use? 2. Who needs it? 3. Where do those users come from? 4. Why would they care? How do you get more users? And what makes them stay? That’s the difference between shipping a project and building a startup. You have 2 weeks. Use them to: → Build → Get it in front of people → Listen → Iterate → Find traction Because traction tells a stronger story than polish. A beautiful demo with zero users is still just a demo.
