THE REAL HEROES OF UKRAINE
We used to imagine heroes as muscular, fearless men with perfect faces and extraordinary strength — the kind Hollywood puts on movie screens and magazine covers. But real heroes are very different.
Some have defended their positions for hundreds of days without relief. Others have risked their lives under Russian drone attacks to rescue wounded comrades. One soldier even amputated his own leg to survive, spending months inside a concrete pipe.
These are not fictional characters. They are ordinary Ukrainians whose courage, determination, and sacrifice deserve to be remembered. Today, I want to tell you about four extraordinary warriors.
🇺🇦 Kostiantyn Vlasenko — a volunteer soldier of Ukraine's 30th Mechanized Brigade who held his position for an astonishing 491 days. He spent nearly ten months sheltering inside a concrete pipe, lost one leg, and was forced to amputate the other himself. Yet he refused to surrender to Russian forces and survived. Before the war, he was an ordinary BelAZ mining truck driver from Kryvyi Rih. Today, he represents almost unimaginable courage and determination.
🇺🇦 Vladyslav Polskyi — a company commander who risked his own life to rescue two wounded comrades trapped under Russian drone attacks. Without body armor, he jumped into a civilian pickup truck and drove directly into danger. He refused to expose other soldiers to the same deadly risk and decided to undertake the rescue mission himself. Thanks to his courage, both wounded men were successfully evacuated and their lives were saved.
🇺🇦 Sviat Ternovskyi — a Ukrainian soldier who defended one of the most dangerous sectors of the front for more than 100 consecutive days without rotation. During that time, he survived four powerful explosive blasts, repeated Russian assaults, relentless shelling, and constant enemy drone attacks. Despite everything, he and his comrades refused to break or retreat.
🇺🇦 Vladyslav Bilousov — a soldier of Ukraine's 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade who held a position near Pokrovsk for an incredible 255 days without rotation. Russian assault groups repeatedly attacked his shelter. During one particularly brutal assault, enemy troops threw approximately ten grenades into his position. Yet he survived, held his ground, and refused to retreat.
These four men remind us what real heroism looks like. No Hollywood scripts, no superpowers, no glamorous costumes. Just ordinary Ukrainians facing extraordinary danger, suffering, and seemingly impossible circumstances — and refusing to give up.
While politicians deliver speeches from comfortable offices and argue about Ukraine's future, these men have defended that future with their own blood. They have sacrificed their health, their youth, and everything they once considered normal so that their country might remain free.
Their names deserve to be known far beyond Ukraine's borders. Kostiantyn Vlasenko, Vladyslav Polskyi, Sviat Ternovskyi, and Vladyslav Bilousov. Remember these names.
Because real heroes don't need capes. They deserve our respect, our gratitude, and a world that will never forget their sacrifices.
🇺🇦 Glory to Ukraine! Glory to its heroes!
