In solemn memory of the innocent souls lost to an act of profound darkness on October 7. May the weight of their absence be an enduring reminder of the devastation of hatred, and may we find the courage and collective strength to build a world defined by humanity and peace.

As autumn arrives, we celebrate Mehregan, an ancient Iranian festival devoted to Mehr and to the qualities that give meaning to our lives. In the spirit of Mehr, may we choose compassion over indifference, generosity over selfishness, and kindness wherever we have the opportunity to offer it. And may the changing season remind us that what we cultivate with care can become a source of abundance for others. On this Mehregan, we celebrate the enduring human values that transcend generations. Wishing everyone a joyful and meaningful Mehregan.

We, IAL, extend our heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones. May you be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life for a year of health, peace, and sweetness and the sound of the shofar bring renewal, reflection, and hope. L’shanah tovah u’metukah.

On September 11, IAL pauses in solemn remembrance of the thousands of innocent lives taken that day. Their absence and the enduring grief of those left behind continue to echo through the years, standing as a testament to the human cost of hatred and to the profound darkness of those who chose hatred over humanity. We honor those we lost with enduring respect and compassion for those who continue to carry their loss, along with a solemn promise never to forget.

The regime’s costly, so-called “sanctions survival” brings nothing but economic distortion, growing pressure, and a heavier burden on ordinary Iranians. Oil is sold at discounts, financing is slower and more expensive, technology and dual-use goods are harder to obtain, and transactions are smaller, riskier, and more costly than ever. Export revenues that should support the formal economy or imports instead disappear into regime-linked networks, while ordinary Iranians absorb inflation, the rial’s collapse, and shortages as regime intermediaries capture the rents. These networks are neither infinite nor costless. The regime prioritizes funding its apparatus and proxies over economic efficiency and public welfare, and the cost is paid by ordinary Iranians. @USTreasury @SecScottBessent

Two luxury flats linked to Iran’s supreme leader and which overlook Kensington Palace have been put on the market. The properties, near the official London residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, illustrate the degree to which the Tehran regime has secretly gained a foothold in elite British circles. @thetimes thetimes.com/world/middle-ea…

Universities, particularly those training the next generation of teachers, carry institutional responsibilities that go beyond abstract academic freedom. When an individual in such a position, such as Farah Ahmed, appointed Assistant Research Professor in Cambridge’s Faculty of Education, has previously advocated an educational vision explicitly oriented toward religious domination and the rejection of core liberal principles transparent examination of these matters is a basic requirement of institutional responsibility, including safeguarding, Prevent duties and consistent standards for those who shape future educators and curricula. @mragilligan @spectator @Cambridge_Uni

The concern over violent religious rhetoric, especially when it involves people in positions of governmental authority, should not be dismissed. Pretending the content is irrelevant simply because it is framed as future-oriented or liturgical is evasive, and traditional status does not erase the content, for violent imagery directed at outsiders remains violent imagery. When a government figure platforms the institution and stays for the full prayer, it signals tolerance of that content. Ignoring or minimizing such rhetoric because the language is “traditional” or because the speaker is from a minority faith creates a real problem. Elected officials are not private citizens, and their presence confers legitimacy.

Regime officials such as Masoumeh Ebtekar, who was an active participant and public face of the 1979 embassy seizure and later rose inside the Islamic Republic she helped consolidate, cannot have their record diminished or whitewashed. If that system is the one she championed, her immediate family living under its rules in Iran is the logical outcome of her own political project. Permanent residency in the United States is not an entitlement that must be extended to relatives of senior regime figures simply because the relatives themselves have not been charged with a U.S. crime. Maryam Tahmasebi, her daughter-in-law’s public advocacy, crowdfunding campaigns, and selective historical framing that reduce Ebtekar’s actions to those of a mere “translator” do not constitute a legal or policy veto over the decision to remove them.

Today marks the 120th anniversary of Iran’s Constitutional Decree. On this day, Iran became the first country in the Middle East to adopt a constitutional system, a major milestone in modern Iranian history for the rule of law, national sovereignty, and progress. Rooted in Iran’s long-standing traditions of justice, it affirmed the supremacy of law over arbitrary power and the will of the nation as the foundation of legitimate government.
