Simple DVT ‘Super Cluster’ Update: In early June, a proposal passed for the addition of 10 ‘Super Simple DVT Clusters’ - 5 from @obol_collective and 5 from @ssv_network - to supercharge the adoption of DVT via validators using Lido protocol. research.lido.fi/t/staking-r… Read on for more on the onboarding of proposed ‘Super Clusters’ and what it means for the Lido protocol 👇

What are ‘Super Clusters’? ‘Super Clusters’ are clusters in the Simple DVT Module composed of ‘Advanced Node Operators’*, mixed together with members of the Lido Curated Node Operator set, with the ability to support up to 500 validators each. As per the original proposal, any Simple DVT cluster that runs 100+ validators must comprise a minimum of 50% ‘Advanced Node Operators’. *‘Advanced Node Operators’ are professional Node Operators, Solo Stakers, and Community stakers that have demonstrated prowess running high-performance nodes across both Simple DVT testnets and mainnet.

The need for ‘Super Clusters’: Whilst the Simple DVT Module has effectively demonstrated the potential benefits of DVT, certain constraints lower its adoption potential. The addition of ‘Super Clusters’ lowers the operational load associated with SDVT cluster onboarding and allows for certain clusters to support more validators, expanding the adoption of DVT across the Lido protocol. The ‘Super Cluster’ Evaluation Process: 230 participants were evaluated for ‘Super Cluster’ inclusion by the LNOSG. All evaluated participants had demonstrated expertise and had already been accepted to proceed to Simple DVT mainnet. The LNOSG, together with coordinators from Lido DAO, Obol & SSV, proposed the inclusion of 70 participants across 10 ‘Super Clusters’. Of the 70 proposed participants, 63 are professional node operators with the remaining 7 being solo/community stakers. 28 participants were proposed as backups. Proposed candidates were determined based on their performance, responsiveness and reliability across testnets and mainnet, with both client and geographic diversity being a strong consideration in the selection. The LNOSG evaluation call, together with proposed clusters and summary statistics for SSV and Obol candidates can be found here: drive.google.com/drive/folde….

The Path To Mainnet: A 7-day discussion period is now open for the DAO to discuss proposed Super Cluster candidates. If no additional information is requested, SDVT coordinators will begin the coordination process, with mainnet onboarding to begin in the coming weeks.

Mainnet Performance Requirements: Upon onboarding, accepted candidates will begin with 50 depositable keys. A performance report will be presented to the DAO after 14 days which, assuming a comparable performance to other mainnet operators, will be followed by a proposal to increase cluster key limits to 200. Another 14 day performance review will be conducted, after which cluster key limits may be raised to 500 validators.

The potential of DVT has been made evident, and an expansion of the Lido DAOs implementation of DVT is needed to further the security and decentralisation of the Lido protocol 🌐 Get involved in the discussion here: research.lido.fi/t/proposal-…
