Leaving trash on the moon was an inadvertent science experiment. One day we will sift through it to see what survives in there.
The first trash on the Moon: an Apollo 11 snapshot 🌑
On July 20, 1969, immediately after landing, Neil Armstrong photographed a bag of waste near the module's landing leg. Discarding trash (such as food packaging and hygiene products) was required by protocol to reduce weight before liftoff.
A total of 96 such bags were left on the Moon. Scientists are curious whether Earth microbes inside them have survived after decades in space.

I just asked my Muse to do a Quality Assurance pass on an application I am creating.
It carefully went through iteration by iteration and created a 15-page QA report with everything it found, including descriptions, how to reproduce and screenshots!
This was done in 1 hour and it was the first time it tried!
