Pat Lawless was a renowned solo sailor who departed from Limerick with the intention of completing a cross Atlantic voyage in a 28 foot yacht, the Iniscealtra. He arrived at Newport Rhode Island USA and completed his journey after 31 days at sea, on this day, July 28th 1986.
