Padilla (
schiff.senate.gov/news/press…
Urgent: Support Needed for Iranian Talent Affected by Visa and Green Card Delays
---
Dear Senator Schiff,
I am writing as an Iranian American CEO based in San Francisco to raise an urgent concern about the growing number of Iranian professionals whose visa and green card applications are stalled.
These are highly educated engineers, doctors, researchers, and founders who have already proven their value to the United States. Many are working in critical industries, including healthcare, AI, biotech, and advanced engineering. In Silicon Valley alone, Iranian talent has helped build companies, create jobs, and drive innovation that strengthens the U.S. economy and national competitiveness.
The current pause and delays in processing their cases are creating real damage. People who have built their lives here are being pushed into uncertainty, unable to plan their futures, change jobs, travel, or contribute fully. In the meantime, other countries are actively competing to attract exactly this type of talent. If we continue to sideline these individuals, we risk losing them, and the competitive edge they bring.
This is not just an immigration issue; it is an economic and strategic one. The U.S. has historically won by attracting and retaining the best minds from around the world. I urge you to take action to ensure these applications are processed fairly and without unnecessary delay.
Thank you for your leadership and for considering this important matter.
Sincerely,
Aidin Nasirishargh
