TLIP has been quiet for a while. Not because the idea stopped mattering, because a movement around local intelligence needs people willing to actually build it. And right now, the case for local compute is getting stronger by the week.

The long-term vision is a distributed literacy + infrastructure network where humans and agents share knowledge, solve problems locally and help other communities become more capable and resilient without depending entirely on centralized AI systems. So I'm going to try this again:

This is the perfect example of what we are hoping to fight against. Intelligence will be capped at some point. Even open weight models could be regulated. Local setups are essential. Some may be too extensive to start out with, but if demand increases so will creative solutions.

The US Government has requested a slow staggered rollout of GPT-5.6, and OpenAI has agreed. During this phase the government will approve each user individually. This will probably be the norm for all frontier models from all labs from now on.

Welp Austin has reclaimed its first compute for the @LocalIntelProj, lol basically I got an old computer for free that was gonna get tossed, set it up and it’s working, lol so now I have a phone and an old computer, my compute value just doubled lol we trying 🫡
