Godly women are, by nature, drawn to what doesn’t display parts of her figure that men other than her husband don’t need to think about.
Unfortunately, even churches and pastors often get this wrong, saying, “God doesn’t care how you dress.”
The Bible says differently.
More than a hundred verses address God’s view of clothing.
The error of “legalism” is writing out to the letter and in exhaustive detail rules that aren’t in the Bible. You know, like “only skanks wear green and Velcro is an abomination.”
Velcro is an abomination, of course. But the point is, the devil is in the details, and no rulebook in the world is big enough to cover all the details of fashion. The rules are much more general than that. So far as modesty is concerned, there is one rule: “Don’t dress like a whore.”
It’s not that complicated.
Modesty means “Not striving to draw attention.” That’s the basic gist. It doesn’t mean going out in public in camouflage, although there’s nothing wrong with that, and some of us do it seven days a week. It means not drawing attention to your external frame or fleeting beauty. That’s a pretty broad rule. It’s not an oppressive standard.
The Bible says that a prostitute or a loose woman “lieth in a pit, wait as for prey” (Proverbs 23:27-28).
Men are the prey here, not the women.
And Ecclesiastes 7:6 says that whorish women are “snares and nets; whoever pleases God will escape her.”
Did you catch that?
They’re something to escape.
They are the problem-causers in this scenario.
Proverbs 2:11-16 says, “Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee … To DELIVER thee from the strange woman...”
Yes, men need protection from unchaste and immodest women.
They are the aggressor.
The Bible says to run or flee from loose women SEVEN times. It doesn’t say to fight them. It doesn’t say to ignore them. It says to flee from them. So, yeah. Anybody making fun of men choosing not to be around women in butt pucker shorts is like trying to ridicule a gazelle into standing a little closer to the lion.
Do you know why Joseph escaped from Potiphar’s wife without his shirt? Because seduction is the female version of rape, and it overpowers.
It’s best to run. And that’s not cowardly.
Men shouldn’t have to protect themselves alone. WOMEN have a primary job of protecting their men from loose women:
Proverbs 7:4-5 explains that sisters and female relatives naturally want to protect their men from hussies. If lacking godly women, it says to treat wisdom like a sister, plucking you from the company of a whorish woman.
We must again normalize protecting men.
They protect civilization.
A Christian civilization should protect them back.
And it should start with a civilization dress code that involves actual clothes.
