On a Sunday 10 years ago today I woke up to a call at 7:45 and a text saying “bro is this true turn on Sportcenter”.
I saw headline “Jose Fernandez dead in boating accident”.
I watched as a story unravelled, tears pouring down my face in shock, it was a HORRIBLE DAY.

I was 30 years old, crying for the loss of a 25 year old athlete who I interacted with many times. JOSE’s Smile would brighten the darkest of rooms. His energy and passion for the game of baseball was never beaten only matched by others.
It broke me, that day hurt & still does.

We can all point fingers to cause or who was responsible for the loss of life on that tragic morning.
In the end young lives were taken, and we mourn them all as one.
10 years it feels like it just happened. Rest in paradise Jose and all the victims of the tragedy. May your souls be smiling down on your families, friends and loved ones.

ANY YEAR when you get MORE wins than the previous year that is growth.
The players like griffin, Mack (who made his debut), ALLSTAR Otto (before his hand injury), X, Hernandez & Sanoja all took steps in personal growth as players directions.

At very least Toronto paid their own player which I respect for what he did for them.
The Padres, Mets & Phillies currently pay extremely high to players not for what they will do in their new cities, but instead l instead what those players DID for other teams.
Padres’ Machado will be earning $39 million annually from ages 36-40!
Soto ages 36-41 being paid $46 million annually from the METS!
HARPER from ages 36-41 will make a ton less than the above mentioned players but he is still going to be making $23.5 million per season for what he did as a National.
Point being the problem is small market teams rarely pay their own players, or they are told by scott boris to wait. Like he told Polar Bear in 2024. He should have been a forever Met.
I commend the Yankees for paying Judge when he became a FA.
