Comparing Earned Power vs Elected Power. Free markets & good governance. Author of Our Two Democracies ↓

London, England
You get one vote every five years. You've been told that's your democracy. Lucky you. But when did you last vote? Did your party win? If so, did you get what you wanted? Or did it come bundled with policies you disagreed with? Or perhaps you lost, and your vote was forgotten by the morning. What if I told you there was another democracy? One where you vote every day. Where your vote is counted immediately, is always heard, and the promises are always delivered on — or a full refund. You actually live in two democracies. The first is the ballot box, the one you've been convinced is the epitome of freedom and choice. The second is the economy, where every pound you spend is a vote on how you live your life — a democracy where every vote matters. Politicians know which one holds real power. So they keep expanding into the parts of life the market already runs better, and they hide the cost in taxes engineered so you can never quite add them up. I break down how that works: where government earns its mandate, where it oversteps, and why your most powerful vote isn't on a ballot.

If the only thing that our government did was run the military, your vote would be used to opt into or out of wars. That would make going to war a very democratic process. But it’s not. Your one covers a vast number of impacts to your life. This means you can’t vote for or against any one thing. Andy Burnham wants to add to this list Water, Rail, Power, and much more. This process of expanding government makes it LESS democratic, not more.

I have been asking out loud recently ‘why is Europe so socialist?’ And this is your answer. Politicians with ideological fantasies that they are trying to impose on their unknowing compatriots. “If you’re counting on white Christian workers to bring about socialism in France, it won’t happen. But our Muslim brothers and sisters will.” He really said that bit out loud. They have been infiltrating our institutions, polluting the minds of our children, implementing immigrationisation tactics, and secretively marketing their ideas through words like ‘progressivism’. Britain needs to wake up to what they have been, and are doing. Marxism has always failed, in every country it’s been tried.
Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of the biggest far-left party in France, explains why the alliance between progressives and Muslims is necessary. “If you’re counting on white Christian workers to bring about socialism in France, it won’t happen. But our Muslim brothers and sisters will.” This is the same playbook being used by the left in all Western countries.

Socialism has never worked anywhere. Far from ‘doing socialism properly’… Mamdani is following the textbook approach that has resulted in starvation, mass exodus and death, every time. He must be stopped.
THEO VON: “Will you define socialism for us?” MAMDANI: “Socialism, to me, means that you will have WHATEVER YOU NEED to live a dignified life, and that it is the GOVERNMENT’S JOB to deliver on that.” I’ve heard a line like that before. It came from a famous book, and it was describing the highest stage of communism.

Im still waiting for an actual answer. You made a link between ‘ anti-socialists and anti-democracy’. I’m still waiting for a single specific example?

🚨 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 *Progressive is just another word for Socialism/Communism.* It doesn’t mean ‘progress’. It means ‘Progressively Communist’. It’s a war of attrition strategy with good marketing.

Meal Deals and Democratic Elections have a lot in common. When you buy a meal deal, you have three items to choose from in one packaged deal. There are only three things you can change, there are effectively limited package options. So most people get what they want. Now imagine you had to buy your weekly shopping, and there were only two pre-packaged options to choose from. But both had things you REALLY didn’t want. Things that in other supermarkets you could choose separately. They didn’t HAVE TO be part of a packaged deal. With one decision you had to take the whole week of food, and no chance to change anything until next week, when you’d have a completely different trolly to choose from. How much choice do you really have? This is why large governments are undemocratic. The more things are in one big trolly, the more diluted your single vote is. Minimise government = maximise democracy. #democracy #mealdeal

Guilt yields are at 6%. We are borrowing for foreign aid which will cost an ADDITIONAL £3m in debt interest every additional year. And our PM is talking about meal deals. Looking after the pennies doesn’t work when the house is on fire.
BREAKING: Andy Burnham to push for a new national regulator for meal deals, citing concerns over water being treated the same as cans of fizzy pop. He explained "I've been listening to the people's priorities, if we can do that little bit more to help consumers we will"

A reminder to us all that what is happening in France has happened before. And it never ends well. More history is required.

Some people start a business to help people improve their lives. Some people aren’t capable of running a business. So they try to help people through government. Where need, efficiency, productivity all pail in importance vs ego.
Zohran Mamdani explains his definition of socialism to Theo Von: “Socialism to me means you’ll have whatever you need to live a dignified life and that it is the government’s job to deliver on that. When people say dignity we’re talking about the things that allow you to take a breath. Housing, childcare, public transit. No one should be priced out of these things. These are non-negotiables, you need these to live”

We’re told government is the solution to our problems. France’s general government spending was 57.2% of GDP in 2025, with revenues at 52.1%, a deficit of 5.1%, and debt of 115.6% of GDP. France has the biggest government of the major western economies. France is failing.
France is currently seeing mass violent riots by migrant school kids. Schools have been set on fire along with busses and police assaulted. This is the second day of unrest taking over France. Over 1,000 have been arrested 400 schools have been closed 2 high schools were set on fire. This is the result of mass immigration.
Community note
The opening burning bus is from a Jan 2023 mechanical accident in Nîmes, not current protests. Passengers evacuated safely. Current unrest involves student protests over school conditions with violence and fires. tf1info.fr/justice-faits-… reuters.com/world/about-40…

Every time you increase the size and scope of government, it gets less democratic. There are more things your one decision every five years has to cover. The smaller the government, the greater the democracy.

Zack Polanski was, is, and always will be a liar and a charlatan. Do not trust him, he is a trained actor and he is playing a role.
🚨NEW: It's been revealed that all four of Zack Polanski's grandparents were born in Britain before the war despite his constant claims his family "fled the Nazis"

‘Debt is profoundly immoral. Debt is nothing more than a deferred tax. You're making your children, your grandchildren, and generations that aren't even born yet pay for your parties today - generations that have no way to defend themselves.’ Britain should be ashamed.
Alors, évidemment, ils me vouent une haine viscérale ! Ils me haïssent parce qu’ils sont majoritairement de gauche." (Le Point)

When I want my children to stop doing something, I usually threaten that I will take something from them if they continue. Somehow, politicians are not aware that the same incentives exist in adults.. Tax what you want less of… It’s so simple.
Fears that Labour will hike CGT in the budget are causing art collectors to move their masterpieces out of Britain, leading dealers are warning. Philip Hoffman, chief executive of the Fine Art Group — responsible for more than $1.4bn of deals in artworks and jewellery — warned of “a rush among collectors to move their art out of London”. He said: “A huge number of art collectors in the UK have already got their fingers poised to move on October 29 if the wrong conclusion comes out of the budget.” He noted that the market was already “much smaller than it used to be and diminished”. Johnny van Haeften, an Old Master dealer specialising in 16th and 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art, said: “All the entrepreneurs have left, all the non-doms have left.” He accused Labour policies of “leaving a void” in the art market, deterring both buyers and sellers. “The awful thing is I can’t think of any really, really good picture that has remained in this country,” he said. “There have been a lot of excellent pictures. I can think of some very good Bruegel paintings we’ve sold in this country, but we’ve sold six Rembrandts, only one of which stayed in this country, and has subsequently been exported.” Art, like wealthy individuals, is highly mobile. It's all part of the impoverishment of Britain caused by high-tax policies.

If this was in the UK, we’d be blaming Brexit. But it’s not. It’s in the EU. France has all the same problems as Britain, but worse. I wonder why…
France is a prime example of Europe's failures in the last 30 years: - A state obsessed with past glory and power, becoming increasingly irrelevant - Horrible immigration policy & demographic decline - Islamisation & Africanisation coupled with both zero interest of the state to apply pressure to integrate or help with it - as well as an eternal victim culture & propensity for violence in migrant communities - Boomers created an unaffordable welfare state which now just runs on debt that no one can realistically repay - Farmers, unions, public servants etc. special interest groups unable to compromise to the point of violence - An intellectual class stuck in the 1970s - Everyone is angry, increasingly radicalised, no one can compromise or constuctively solve issues. - Scapegoat culture: "The EU!" "The billionaire class!" "Ukraine!" "Musk!" "Neoliberalism!" instead of self reflection

For my children and yours.
I urge you all to watch this. Excellent. I note with interest and total agreement that the country IS indeed an inheritance. We are all of us merely stewards of Britain. It is our duty to look after the country and create the ideal conditions for our people and their businesses to flourish, it is our responsibility and obligation to leave Britain in a better state than we found it for people whom we will never meet. This is such an undervalued and hugely important point. Well said @eleanorrofe 👏
