Our circumstances will not rob our joy.

A morning prayer

Goodbye, college football, my old friend. It’s been a fun ride. I’m sorry the love of money destroyed everything that made you special.

Stoffel, a honey badger, was so determined to fight the lions next door that he kept escaping. When his keepers gave him a female partner to distract him, he used her to climb out again.

Nope.

On a day of unimaginable tragedy, ordinary people stood up as heroes on 9/11, one of whom was Rick Rescorla. Rick was a proud Cornishman and a decorated U.S. Army officer who worked as head of security for @MorganStanley in the South Tower. His foresight, courage & selflessness saved almost all of the company’s 2,700 employees on 9/11. His bravery & heroism alongside many, many others, will never be forgotten.

Let's not forget today that Rick Rescorla was a hero. At age 62, as the director of security at Morgan Stanley and battling cancer, Rick was credited for going up and down the towers' stairs as it burnt and led 2700 people to safety. Rick, when hired was convinced the next attack at the WTC would be by plane. He ran drills with the employees on how to evacuate. While going up and down the stairs over and over, trying to save more and more, he'd sing Cornish songs that he used to sing in war to calm his men. Ricks last call to his wife showed just what kind of a man he was: "Stop crying. I have to get these people out safely. If something were to happen to me, I want you to know I’ve never been happier. You made my life.” Don't forget, heroes exist, and Rick was one of them. Rest in peace to a legend.

Please #NeverForget. #September11

I just showed several students the video of Whitney Houston’s 1991 Super Bowl National Anthem. First time they had ever seen it. Some of them stood and placed their hand on their heart. My life is a success.
