This is just why the anime version ain't better for me mannn. Kubo is the master of subtlety/subtext
You have to treat his visual design, ability mechanics, poetry and sparse dialogue as psychology because Kubo rarely sits Yhwach down for conventional introspection. His refusal to introspect is itself the point.

Ichigo comes into contact with something that threatens his reality, and he reflects on it, even Aizen after all the coping is eventually forced to face the reality of his situation and grows from it. Yhwach instead changes everything outside himself.
