Coldwater police arrested Djempsley at the plant.
Prosecutor Fitz stated that if Djempsley is convicted, the prosecution will demand he serve the full sentence, adding that deportation will follow any prison term.
He described Djempsley as a threat to the community and called the crime “the most serious violation known to humankind.”
Fitz noted: “He was supposed to be on his best behavior, but instead he spilled the lifeblood of another human being.”
During court proceedings, prosecutors revealed that Djempsley is a Haitian national in the United States on a work visa.
Court documents and statements from Fitz also referenced prior deportation proceedings against him dating to 2024
