Pi ZT Lalrithangi, called Marii, is a strawberry farmer from Sangau village in Lawngtlai District. She was chosen among the 'FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development' as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. She received the award at the World Food Forum 2026, FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy. She is the first Mizo farmer to be honoured on a global stage. She was felicitated yesterday by the Hon'ble Minister of Horticulture, Shri. C. Inaugurated the District Boundary Gate at Medo, Lohit district, today. Serving as a welcome gateway to the Mishmi Hills, the gate marks an important entry point to a region rich in spiritual significance, natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the holy pilgrimage site of Parshuram Kund to Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve, the picturesque Glaw Lake, and onward to Kibithoo and Dong, where the first rays of the sun touch our beautiful land, Lohit opens the way to some of Arunachal Pradesh’s most remarkable destinations. I appreciate the efforts of the Rural Works Department (RWD) in executing this project, which adds to the region’s infrastructure and gives a distinct identity to this important gateway.

The inauguration of the Donyi Polo Multipurpose Hall at Galo Heritage Centre-cum-Mopin Ground, Tarajuli, Naharlagun, celebrates the power of community participation and teamwork. Announced by me in 2022, the project was sanctioned in February 2024 and completed in February 2025, within just one year of sanction, exemplifying timely execution. With more than 430 individual contributions, the Galo community has demonstrated remarkable generosity and ownership. The Naharlagun Mopin Management & Promotion Committee (NMMPC), under the aegis of the Galo Welfare Society (GWS), played a key role in this collective achievement. Government support, community participation and shared responsibility, that is how we build lasting assets. I hope this becomes an inspiring example for communities across Arunachal Pradesh.
