El tercer Lockheed P-3C Orión (ex Real Fuerza Aérea de Noruega), adquirido por el Gobierno argentino y destinado a la Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Exploración de la Armada Argentina, visto días atrás en las instalaciones de MHD-ROCKLAND, ubicadas en el aeropuerto de Keystone Heights, Florida.
La aeronave, un P-3C Orion UIP, ex 3298 "Viking", completó las tareas de inspección mayor PMI (Planned Maintenance Interval) y su puesta en servicio, encontrándose en la etapa final previa a su traslado hacia la Argentina.
Cabe recordar que esta unidad forma parte de los cuatro Lockheed P-3 Orión incorporados por la Armada Argentina. Tres corresponden a la versión P-3C, configurada específicamente para misiones de patrulla marítima y guerra antisubmarina (ASW), mientras que el restante es un P-3N, orientado principalmente a tareas de búsqueda y rescate (Search and Rescue – SAR).
Con hasta 12 horas de autonomía y un amplio radio de acción, estas aeronaves refuerzan significativamente la capacidad de exploración, vigilancia y control del Atlántico Sur y de los espacios marítimos de interés nacional.
