Many disagree that the new Botley Road bridge looks good; and it is a bit of a concrete slab...
But it’s hard to relate the joy all Oxford feels at never having to go through the ‘Tunnel of Doom’ ever again; such was my delight, it looked like the Arc de Triomphe at first.
Cars and buses go from Oxford Station down Botley Road for the first time in three years!
The project took longer than the construction of The Titanic and saw costs balloon to £237m.
Looks good though.

The Oxford Botley Road project began when Rishi Sunak was prime minister, the social media app X was Twitter and Tottenham Hotspur were on their way to an eighth place Premier League finish.

Lots of happy people at the reopened Botley Road today.
The Oxford highway has been closed since April 2023.
Since then we’ve had three PMs, Twitter has become X and Spurs were just about to finish 8th in the Premier League.

Jubilant scenes as the Oxford Botley Road finally reopens.
Businesses and locals have been furious at the three-and-a-half year closure, which has also been criticised by local MP Layla Moran.
Lots of positivity this morning though.

Jonathan Reynolds got his Grade 8 piano and trumpet when aged 13 and now plays in multiple county orchestras as he looks to a future in music.
