There’s a new perp venue on Canton that deserves some necessary attention.
I’ve mentioned Canton Network before and why I think it’s an ecosystem worth keeping an eye on. And now, one of the first derivatives venues is starting to take shape on the network.
@ekidenfi just went live as the first CLOB-based derivatives exchange on
@CantonNetwork, with a pretty clear focus on professional trading.
The interesting part isn’t just that it has perps.
A CLOB gives traders a familiar order book where bids and asks are organised by price, orders can be placed at specific levels, and market makers can continuously quote both sides of the market.
That matters when trade sizes get bigger. You want to see the liquidity available across different price levels, have more control over where your order executes and give algo traders the same kind of structure they already work with on professional venues.
Ekiden combines that with Canton’s privacy model.
Instead of positions and account activity being visible to everyone, Canton’s need-to-know model restricts transaction visibility to the participants who actually need access. So you get professional trading infrastructure without treating every part of your trading activity as public information.
And the early numbers are already interesting.
Less than two weeks after launch:
📊 $3.3M+ trading volume
💰 $329K+ TVL
📈 $115K+ open interest
BTC, ETH, HYPE and CC are already live, with leverage up to 20x.
There’s also REST and WebSocket API access for algorithmic traders and market makers, while account abstraction separates network identity, funding and trading activity.
That makes Ekiden feel less like another perp app and more like an attempt to build an actual trading layer for institutional markets moving onchain.
The backing reflects that direction too, with GSR, Flowdesk, Pyth Network, G-20 Group, Curiosity VC and other institutional and crypto-native investors behind the project, alongside angels and operators from LayerZero, Avail, Chorus One, Cube, Aptos, EigenLayer and Manta Network.
Mainnet is still invite-only and the initial rollout is focused on active traders.
I managed to get my hands on 20 invites, so I’ll be sharing them with people who actually want to trade and try the platform.

All still early, but I think Ekiden is one of the more interesting things happening around onchain derivatives right now.
