Iran’s seat is temporary and only for the 70th session (September 2026). Next year’s conference elects a new committee. Iran is not automatically back on it. However while they occupy their seat, Iran could try to sabotage proceedings. Iran's representative could try to subvert the agenda so that Iran related items get delayed, or diluted. He could use arguments to run out the clock on votes or speeches. He could challenge the credentials of other delegations to create procedural noise. These tactics can waste alot of time and produce ugly headlines that have little to no basis in fact, given the corruption in the various media outlets. And of course, Iran will most likely continue to deny IAEA inspectors access, not answer questions, lie outright, pretend to cooperate and so forth. The IAEA's credibility just took a big hit. Thankfully the appointment lasts only one week. After the meeting closes, Iran's seat is gone.
