A team involving researchers of the MPIEA have investigated which movement characteristics of upper-body gestures help express emotions while dancing and enable them to be recognized by others.

In collaboration with @MPI_CBS, Seung-Cheol Baek of the MPIEA found that the brain represents acoustic cues and speech categories in parallel—rather than serially—for both phonemes and prosody, revealing a shared neural principle.
