On 23 September, an Israeli airstrike hit close to our clinic in Khan Younis, Gaza, Palestine. Fadi Husam, nursing team supervisor, was at the clinic, where he worked with his team to stabilise injured people. “Yesterday morning, there was a huge Israeli airstrike very close to our clinic in Khan Younis, 10 people who were injured came to our emergency department where our team all stepped in to support in the response. Among them was a 32-year-old man in critical condition, with multiple shrapnel wounds to his face and neck, as well as other injuries. A seven-year-old child also arrived with multiple shrapnel wounds caused by the force of the explosion.  “We all felt scared when we heard the sound of explosions, we all have families who live close to the site of the explosion, and we were worried about them. But as a medical team, the patient comes first and we provided the best care for all cases. Over the course of an hour, we stabilised all of the patients and referred them to Nasser hospital for further treatment. “We were glad we managed to treat the people who were injured yesterday, but every healthcare facility in Gaza is overwhelmed because of the Israeli restrictions on supplies. We are short of even the most basic medicines and equipment, such as gauze, and at any moment generators can break down because of the lack of engine oil and spare parts. We desperately need to see more medical and logistic supplies enter Gaza.”

🔴 West Bank: On 23 September, Israeli forces demolished the homes of 91 people in Jinba, Masafer Yatta, Palestine. They destroyed 12 homes, including one belonging to an MSF community health worker, plus water tanks and animal shelters. This is the third mass demolition in Masafer Yatta this month.  “They didn't even warn us - they just came and demolished everything. One soldier told them, ‘demolish it completely, I don't want to find anything left.’ But whatever they do, we will stay here and try by any means to rebuild our home.” - MSF community health worker. As part of our rapid response interventions, we donated mattresses, blankets and other items for people in Jinba whose homes were destroyed. It’s our fifth response this month for demolitions, all in south Hebron hills and Masafer Yatta. We have seen demolitions by Israeli forces affect 69 families in the last 6 months alone, and these numbers keep rising. Israeli authorities must stop demolitions, forcible transfer and all measures that force Palestinians from their homes.

🚨 Our teams at Kule health centre in Ethiopia’s Gambella region have been responding to an influx of wounded patients following violence in Itang Special Woreda on 18 September. The health centre received 88 patients affected by the violence. Eight were deceased, while four others died on their arrival at Kule health centre, despite the efforts of medical teams. The remaining patients have been treated for injuries ranging from minor to serious. Thirteen patients have been referred for additional medical care to Gambella hospitals for further treatment.  “Our priority is to provide urgent medical care to everyone who needs it, based solely on medical need and regardless of their identity or background,” says Gul Badshah, MSF Operations Manager for Ethiopia, based in Nairobi. “We call on all those involved to exercise restraint and protect civilians from further violence.”

Israeli airstrikes continue to hit Gaza every day, killing and injuring people across the Strip. In the last 24 hours, our teams have treated 11 people, including 5 children, wounded by airstrikes.  In the last week, we have treated 22 people with shrapnel wounds or injuries from explosions. Once again, Israeli forces are showing that nowhere is safe in Gaza.  Today our teams at Al-Zawayda field hospital treated 8 people wounded in an Israeli airstrike; 3 were children. Yesterday, an Israeli strike hit a displacement camp in Khan Younis. Our teams at Al-Attar healthcare clinic treated 3 people, including 2 children. These attacks are part of a continuing pattern across Gaza. On 11 September, our teams at Al-Attar had treated 11 others injured in Israeli airstrikes. On 13 September, an Israeli airstrike hit a car next to an MSF bus transporting humanitarian workers, injuring one of our staff.
