The Mississippi Senate passed amended HB 1395 which includes a $6K teacher pay raise over the next 3 years ($2K/year), an annual salary supplement for SPED teachers, and a $2K pay raise for assistant teachers. The bill now heads back to the House for consideration.

The Mississippi House unanimously passed amended SB 2103, which includes a $5K teacher pay raise, $3K SPED teacher supplement, and $3K raise for assistant teachers. The bill now heads back to the Senate for consideration.

Today, the Senate Education Committee unanimously voted down HB 2, which was passed by the House earlier in the legislative session. HB 2 was a 553-page bill that would have diverted state money away from public schools to vouchers, homeschools, and other nonpublic schools.
