I've been taking a programming course for a month now, and I've finally gotten to the point where I know why this is so funny

this doesn't work. you'd be returning num if it's even and nothing (None in python) if it's odd, instead of a boolean

You're not supposed to return num you're supposed to return a boolean. This is the simplest way to do it: private boolean isEven(int num){ return num % 2 == 0; }

what in the slop are you writing, why the fuck are you returning the number and not a bool (better yet just return num % 2 == 0)

this failed my unit test, when I input zero, it returns Zero (falsy type).

def iseven(num): if num & 1 == 0: return num is better as it doesn't need division, if you don't believe me ask grok.
