We're giving half a million more children in England free school meals to tackle hunger, give children the best start in life & help them succeed.
This will put £500 a year back in families' pockets & lift 100,000 children completely out of poverty.

May I set ajar
The doors of closed minds. Words come and words go
And poetry is pain as well as passion,
But in the large flights of imagination
I see for one crammed second, order so
Explicit I need no more persuasion

Still opening boxes post house move but this one was a pleasant surprise…. Thankfully nothing perishable in it as some lovely people sent it weeks ago!
A day of civil society engagement during this year’s #InterfaithWeek yesterday started with a meeting of faith leaders with @Keir_Starmer at @10DowningStreet, discussing the pivotal role of faith communities in our society today.
I encouraged the #PrimeMinister to ensure that this engagement was not only at times of crisis, but on an ongoing basis, as it has been proven time and time again that faith and belief matter far more to a majority of people than current narratives portray. When faith is lived well, and engaged with properly, it can contribute greatly to our world.
We were then hosted by my dear friend @MaeveSherlock at the @UKHouseofLords for a @FaithLabour reception with @GovUK Faith Envoy @StephenTimms and a number of interfaith friends and colleagues.
New figures out today show good news for working people on pay, but much more needs to be done to improve living standards and create opportunities for everyone to get into work and on at work. 1/2
Getting people back to health and back to work is a key priority for this Government.
Along with @DHSCgovuk and @wesstreeting, we are bringing in major reforms to join up health and employment support as part of our plan to Get Britain Working.
More in our White Paper soon….

Today’s journey was extended by engineering works, then delayed by ‘slippery tracks’, then the train developed a fault so we were all kicked off! But fair play to @LNER who had a replacement train waiting for us to board. And the staff team have been brilliant.
