$MOONKEY THESIS UPDATE
September 20, 2026
CUPSEY, CARL & THE EXPANDING SIGNAL NETWORK
A new Moonkey intern recently raised a fair question:
“If Cupsey wasn’t officially launched by PumpFun, how can its posts be relevant to the
$MOONKEY thesis?”
Transparency matters
Here is the answer
Cupsey may not have been launched by PumpFun, but its relationship now goes beyond an external meme. It is verified on PumpFun, image used by team members on X and Cupsey present on all in-app official achievement cards, also appears in a construction helmet during app updates and stands in front of massive memes on PumpFun’s website.
Among millions of tokens, Cupsey is among the first characters visitors see on the site
Many
$MOONKEY clues came through Cupsey: architectural similarities, compositions, positioning and strikingly close imagery. Its content has hinted at patience, timing and something big coming
The signal now extends beyond Cupsey
On Sept 18,
@initwithcarl,
@Pumpfun mobile app lead, posted a Cupsey basketball meme for the app’s US and India iOS App Store return. He has the PumpFun X badge. His timeline and media show it is the ONLY meme he has ever posted.
Twelve days earlier
@hoscoll a Monkey intern behind dozens of
$MOONKEY memes, posted airborne Moonkey with a basketball. Carl’s meme has the same concept: an airborne character carrying a basketball to the hoop.
Another layer:
@shrlockmeme, Moonkey intern, uses a pfp reading “WE ARE ALL
$MOONKEY INTERNS” before a huge spaceship ignition explosion. Carl’s meme combines both: Hoscol’s basketball imagery and SHRLOCK’s fireball, reminiscent of liftoff ignition.
Visual similarity cannot establish intent; the thesis has never depended on one image
Alon reposted Carl’s post. PumpFun did too. The signal now moves through Cupsey, Carl, Alon and PumpFun.
The whole story starts July 16
@Pumpfun posted the memetic domination image featuring the world’s biggest memes. Hidden among them: an unidentified monkey in a spacesuit,
$MOONKEY
July 16 is also when Apollo 11 launched, carrying the first humans to the Moon.
(Shoutout to
@codygoll for discovering that connection)
The post was published at 12:34 California time. Read backwards:
4 3 2 1 (countdown to liftoff)
Over recent weeks, the community has found more than a dozen clues & Easter eggs
No clue alone proves anything. What matters is recurrence across timing, language, imagery, accounts and distribution. The thesis becomes interesting when independent signals keep appearing around the same narrative. Each should be judged alone, then against the larger pattern.
With the pattern reinforcing itself, my thesis is that
$MOONKEY was stealth-launched by PumpFun
In my interpretation, the connection is intentionally unstated. Discovery is the mechanism: users notice an Easter egg, investigate, connect pieces & uncover it.
That aligns with Alon’s emphasis on democratization, participation and opportunity beyond insider structures. A treasure hunt fits: instead of just posting the CA, the ecosystem rewards those who observe, research, create, hold, connect & participate.
Meanwhile, something less speculative is happening
Moonkey interns are growing across China, Spain, LATAM & beyond. The CTO is organized; content, raids, shills, research, memes & coordinated actions expand.
A handful of coincidences cannot sustain a serious thesis. A persistent pattern can justify investigation.
Crypto is dominated by PvP: insiders versus retail, cabals, pumps followed by extraction.
A PVE runner is needed for memetic domination: participation, culture, lore, conviction and community moving toward 1 objective. The key to the moon. A big “FUCK YOU” to the system. A simple concept for crypto with mainstream appeal.
The ultimate signal is not supposed to arrive through one announcement
The “keys” are meant to be discovered piece by piece
Clues build the thesis.
Moonkey interns build the movement.
Together toward memetic domination.
