It’s funny the current Strathclyde discourse arose from some maniac that doesn’t believe what came to be Scotland was composed of various cultures and kingdoms and that there was only ever one eternal Scottish nation since the beginning of time until Doomsday
I saw some disagreement over the extent of Strathclyde, this speculative map I was working on was inspired by the papers by Fiona Edmond’s “the expansion of the kingdom of Strathclyde” and “the transformation and emergence of medieval Cumbria”
For anyone that wants to learn more about the Kingdom of Strathclyde you can see a collection of their early medieval sculpture at the Govan Stones, including this remarkable 9th century sarcophagus
Rulership in this era could be very fluid so I tried to depict that with dark green being direct control and light green being a vague overlordship in times when royal power was strong enough
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - The Final Problem (29th September 1985). Holmes comes face to face with Professor Moriarty (Eric Porter) in John Hawksworth's adaptation of a story first published in 1893.
Delighted to see there’s some Kingdom of Strathclyde patter happening on the timeline. The language they spoke was called Cumbric related to but not exactly the same as Old Welsh- part of the larger Brittonic Celtic language group that includes Welsh, Cornish and Breton.
I don't feel bad for the cut scene from Frankenstein vs. Baragon because at least the octopus puppet in this better and more appropriate scene at the beginning of The War of the Gargantuas (Frankenstein Monsters: Sanda vs. Gaira).
