I’m 30 years old today.
If you were just born, congratulations. I have a small head start.
My teens were mostly experimentation. Trying things, questioning things, and insisting that being creative was somehow a serious plan. My twenties became a much larger composition. Education, work, cities, countries, ambition, and a few dramatic revisions.
Growing older is interesting. You become less impressed by everything and more devoted to a few things that actually matter to you. Your taste gets sharper. Your circle gets smaller. Your time becomes expensive.
You meet hundreds of people, but a few become permanent. Keep those people close. Familiarity, I’ve learned, is a luxury.
And I’m not convinced the best years are necessarily ahead or behind. Life seems less like a straight line and more like a work in progress. Some parts beautifully resolved, some still very much in draft.
Anyway, 30. More files to export today.
