A lot of fun to watch the two Board of Regents plaintiffs battle it out on the gridiron. What was supposed to be the College Football Association marquee matchup in the early 1980 is now an SEC classic.
A few months back, I explained to @365sportsYT two strategies about how the #NCAA could get most of what it wants without Congress granting them an #antitrust exemption. I think it's a great watch based on today's events:

I am at the Oregon Summer Sports Law Institute lecturing today and tomorrow. Today’s talk was on college sports and antitrust law. It was great to have such an engaged group of students.
I will be back at Oregon Law School on Monday and Tuesday, teaching at their Sports Law Institute. Here is me in action from Eugene last summer. It’s a wonderful group of students.
One of the best parts of teaching both college and law school is seeing my students come back years later, enjoying successful careers. It was a pleasure to attend the @Baruch_Zicklin and Macaulay Honors law alumni event on Wednesday night and see many of our superstars.
I went on the law teaching market in Fall 2008, right when the market crashed, and was lucky to land anything. I ended up in Central Florida: a place foreign to me.16 years ago today, the late Stanley Talcott invited me to the Taste of Winter Park to experience Florida culture.
I’ve arrived at the Sport & Discrimination symposium, this year held in Dublin, Ireland. It’s a pleasure to represent @Baruch_Zicklin on these very important issues.
Hopeful that @McCannSportsLaw, John Holden and I will soon be 1/5 of the way toward winning a CEGOT. Hey @Concurrences, like how I just elevated #antitrust writing awards? 😀
If anyone has a modicum of doubts about the utter silliness of the #NCAA and its internal self-governance, go visit a University of Colorado public toilet. I truly can’t make this stuff up!
At @Baruch_Zicklin, we don’t get to pick our classrooms. But I am honored to teach in a room dedicated by an Auschwitz survivor who overcame horrors to thrive in life. If you know the descendants of Leon and Cilka Weiss, please tell them their memory is indeed a blessing.
I am on my way back from Boca Raton, FL, where, along with our school president David Wu, I spoke to the local @BaruchCollege alumni society: in my case, about the proliferation of sports gambling. Hoping my flight home leaves on time: I teach at 9:05 tomorrow morning.
After inclement weather forced us online for Opening Day, I’m finally back teaching live in the new semester at @Baruch_Zicklin. I love walking in these doors before 8 AM when things are so still and quiet. The calm before the storm, after the storm. Gotta love it! 😊
It’s been an absolute privilege for me to teach Antitrust Law this week at the Sorbonne. I am now enjoying 72 hours of rest and relaxation before the new academic semester begins at @Baruch_Zicklin on Monday.
Four years ago today. It was my first public lecture after spending two weeks in the hospital. And it was probably one of the best talks I’ve given. @IowaIBL #NIL.
Interested in sports betting and prediction markets? Larry Zicklin interviews John Holden and me for the latest episode of Zicklin Talks Business.

Exhibit from the Museum of the Southern Jewish experience in New Orleans, LA. In my opinion, it remains a sin of the Far Right to oppose Civil Rights. And it is becoming a sin of the Far Left to deny the role of Jewish community leaders in standing up for Civil Rights reform.
If you ever find yourself in New Orleans, I simply don’t have enough good things to say about the @WWIImuseum. Thorough, detailed, and intellectually honest both about what America has done right and wrong. Spending my morning here was a true privilege.
Don’t be afraid of the grenade! It was a gift with great meaning from three students at Barry Law School in April 2011. And, it follows me on my bookshelf wherever I go in my career.
Sincere thank you to my friend and colleague Sherif Moussa (@skmnyc) for giving a terrific presentation on disability law and the NYC educational system today at @Baruch_Zicklin. Sherif, who is a full-time disability lawyer, also teaches Law & Philosophy for us.
Thank you to those who made it to my talk on House v NCAA and the future of college sports last night at @CardozoLaw. And special thanks to the wonderful panelists who participated in a conversation about the future of college sports immediately afterwards.
A nice picture from the ethics panel at the @ColumbiaLaw sports law symposium last Thursday night. You can tell which one of the four of us was overly animated. I must have been asked something about the NCAA.
One year ago today — from the Temple Lawl School symposium where we discussed House v NCAA and the future of college sports. It was a great event, and Ken Jacobsen was a kind and wonderful host.

I go to the #ALSB conference mainly to see friends and hear others speak. But, on occasion, I appreciate being recognized for my work. I am glad my colleagues thought favorably about my recent @FordhamLRev article, co-authored w/ Michael Carrier, about the House v NCAA settlement
I have arrived in Providence for the ALSB annual conference. If anyone else is here (or if anyone knows what there is to do in Providence outside of conference hours), please reach out.
There is more than a full month before the start of the fall semester at @Baruch_Zicklin. But, as someone who likes to do things ahead of time, I made some modifications to my office door and doorpost this afternoon.
I had a blast speaking about college sports and antitrust law today at @uoregon. Thank you to Bryan Dearinger and the Oregon Law School Sports Law Institute for hosting me.
Strong American law showing at this year’s @SportandDiscri1 conference in Cologne, Germany. I am proud to be a part of both this small, wonderful group, and the larger cross-disciplinary, international one.
I was concerned that visiting Germany for the @SportandDiscri1 might have been hard based on my family’s background. But after spending the morning in Bonn, I find myself impressed and appreciative by Germany’s efforts to acknowledge and make amends for their past.
Apparently I have been writing on sports law for even longer than I thought. This Print Shop gem goes back to ninth grade honors English with Mrs. Schuman in 1992.
At the @sportslawyers reception last night, a rising 3L asked me what has been the most rewarding moment in my career. Without pause, I told him the story. This is the picture that goes along with it. 💙
Another one of those ‘oh my g-d’ moments. I remember first writing about this college athlete unionization in Cardozo Law Review circa 2017 and the reactions I got at the time from many:
The @sportslawyers conference kicks off at 4 PM CT with the academic papers session, including mine, hosted by @DrTab3. Hoping for same great discussions. Also hoping to finish up in time for Knicks tipoff.
I arrived in Nashville a little early for the @sportslawyers conference and visited the National Museum of African American Music. The exhibit on 1920s Black entertainer entrepreneurship was right on point. I’ll find a way to work it into my talk tomorrow.
For anyone interested in watching my presentation from the 2025 Sports Economics Conference on "Why the House Settlement Won't Solve the NCAA's Antitrust Problems," click on the YouTube video below, forward to the 7:00 mark and pump up the audio. #NCAAyoutu.be/b1Rabq7oCHE?si=O8rc…
I had the absolute privilege last night of attending the book launch party for my friend @DionneKoller. Dionne is an absolute superstar professor at Baltimore Law School and her book, “More than Play,” will change the way people look at youth sports in America.
John Holden, @DionneKoller and I had a wonderful discussion today about #sportswashing at University of Baltimore Law School. Thank you for hosting us. 😊
Two years ago today: the beautiful sunset on Noosa Beach, Australia. I was celebrating the end of my Fulbright Fellowship in Australia and a true life-changing experience. Just wanted to share the beauty.
After speaking at @Harvard_Law last night, I celebrated baseball opening day today by taking a morning tour of Fenway Park. Maybe it’s just me, but aren’t baseball stadiums distinctly beautiful.
Last time a formal debate was held on whether the #NCAA should get an antitrust exemption was 2016, five years before the Alston decision. I think the outcome, even then, was quite clear:

Gave a great a job talk today at @Baruch_Zicklin on college athletes as employees. Only problem is Baruch already employs me as a tenured professor. (Picture courtesy of Sherif Moussa, who I hope one day will join us on full time on faculty and be equally demonstrative).
