Reducing BAYC history to “holders rode 150 to 6” completely misses what BAYC did for NFTs.
BAYC gave NFTs culture, identity, community and mainstream attention at a time when most people still thought NFTs were just JPEGs.
It proved that an NFT could be more than art, it could be a membership, an identity, a brand and an entire ecosystem.
BAYC helped create the blueprint that countless collections followed after it. It pushed the idea that holders could have commercial rights, build businesses around their NFTs, create communities and turn a collection into a real brand.
It brought celebrities, brands, events, communities, IP, gaming and mainstream attention into the space.
Without BAYC, the NFT space would have looked very different today and probably much smaller.
The floor can go from 150 to 6 ETH.
That doesn’t erase what BAYC did for NFTs.
Nothing to me.
To the space? Everything.
They sold art as a status ticket, let celebrities shill it, printed a coin, burned millions in gas, got richer while holders rode 150 to 6.
That's not a collection. That's a playbook.
Think it did nothing to you?
Keep supporting.
