The incident occurred September 30, 2026; the Boeing 737 was en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Israel, with 180 passengers on board. During the flight, the Omani national co-pilot brandished a knife and repeatedly stabbed Captain Machchhar inside the cockpit. He then forced the plane into a rapid plunge plummeting 17,000 feet. Despite being severely injured and drenched in blood, Captain Machchhar fiercely resisted and prevented the plane from crashing.
