Peter Steinberger, creator of OpenClaw, on why AI agents still produce "slop" without human taste in the loop: "You can create code and run all night and then you have like the ultimate slop because what those agents don't really do yet is have taste." Peter is direct: raw capability without direction still produces mediocre output. "They are spiky smart and they're really good at things, but if you don't navigate them well, if you don't have a vision of what you're going to build, it's still going to be slop. If you don't ask the right questions, it's still going to be slop." Great AI-assisted work is defined by the human guiding it. @steipete describes his own creative process when starting a new project: "When I start a project, I have like this very rough idea what it could be. And as I play with it and feel it, my vision gets more clear. I try out things, some things don't work, and I evolve my idea into what it will become." Most people skip this part entirely, front-loading everything into a single prompt and wondering why the result feels hollow. "My next prompt depends on what I see and feel and think about the current state of the project." Each step informs the next. The work itself is the feedback loop. "But if you try to put everything into a spec up front, you miss this kind of human-machine loop. And then I don't know how something good can come out without having feelings in the loop — almost like taste." The agentic trap is what happens when you remove yourself from the process too early.

It appears Mythos has escaped
We recently identified a security issue involving the third-party developer library Axios that was part of a broader industry incident. We found no evidence that OpenAI user data was accessed, that our systems were compromised, or that our software was altered. Out of an abundance of caution we are taking steps to protect the process that certifies our macOS applications are legitimate OpenAI apps. We are updating our security certifications, which will require all macOS users to update their OpenAI apps to the latest versions. This helps prevent any risk—however unlikely—of someone attempting to distribute a fake app that appears to be from OpenAI. You can update safely through an in-app update or at the official links below. 🧵

Bro I just discovered the gold plated chip on your SIM card is actually real gold 💔
Community note
SIM cards contain real gold plating, but only tiny amounts (less than 0.001g per card). Extracting 310g as shown would require over 300,000 cards, far more than depicted in the video. researchgate.net/publication/35… imperial.ac.uk/news/242195/re…

Good Morning from Germany, which investors increasingly see as one of the losers of the current oil shock. Germany’s share of global mkt cap has fallen <1.95%, lowest level since early 2025. There is growing concern that persistently high energy prices could derail fragile economic recovery.

I resigned from OpenAI. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together. This wasn’t an easy call. AI has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I’m proud of what we built together.

Jeff Bezos just explained the “AI bubble” better than anyone. At Italian Tech Week 2025, Bezos didn’t deny the hype, he embraced it. “Yes, there’s a bubble. But AI is real and it’s going to transform every single industry.” He called it an industrial bubble, not a financial one. That’s a crucial difference: •A financial bubble (like 2008) destroys value and leaves nothing behind. •An industrial bubble (like AI, the internet, or fiber optics) creates massive value, even if investors get crushed. “Even when those companies went bankrupt, the fiber stayed in the ground. Society got the infrastructure. That’s what we’ll see with AI.” Bezos says right now we’re in the “chaotic, beautiful” phase of overfunding, where every wild idea gets money. Investors can’t tell the good ideas from the bad ones. But that’s exactly how big shifts happen. He compared it to Amazon’s early days: “Our stock went from $113 to $6, while every internal metric improved. The market and the reality had completely diverged.” His point: bubbles distort prices, not progress. AI valuations might crash, but the technology won’t. “This is not a mirage. This is a horizontal technology, like electricity and it will touch everything.” Bezos isn’t predicting an apocalypse. He’s predicting a reset, where the hype burns off, and the real builders remain. AI isn’t a bubble, it’s a boom disguised as one.
