Excellent reporting as always @MarinasHammer I'm a fellow Salt Lake County resident, and this is the kind of investigative work from people like you and @nickshirleyy that we need a lot more of. Media like KUTV and KSL are failing miserably at keeping regular Utahns informed about crime and public safety. Especially on WHO is committing these crimes. The whole situation stinks to high heaven. My jaw dropped when I read about people booked for violent crimes and sexual assault who were then immediately released with no real transparency or visibilty on who they were. Someone could be walking down the street next to a person who just got booked for sexual assault or aggravated assault and never know. The public has an absolute right to that information.

“Perhaps the most troubling finding of this investigation is that it required a private citizen to conduct it at all.”🎯 It is maddening. We can see it. We can sense it. We understand the intentional avoidance by the media. We know who is being protected, who is being harmed and why.😡 Thanks for putting in the research, but most importantly putting it down in writing!

Unfortunately, victims have to do a lot of their own police and detective work on their own cases while trying to deal with the aftermath of a trauma, which has many different aspects. I love how detailed and thorough you are. Thank you for connecting the dots, filling in the blanks & shining a light on things not working. I know all too well about the balls dropped, things missed, connections not made in cases, over and over again... Thank you for this.. people like us that are “nosy” and resourceful and catch things aren’t usually celebrated and thanked for this kind of stuff. We’re usually called troublemakers and all sorts of other things because when you shine a light on things not working, the people and places connected to those are not wanting those things brought to light

Another DEI hire doing what DEI hires do… She’s proudly saying she’s not locking people up per her own bio I would question her ties to gangs & narcotic trafficking I would audit the budget & see who’s taking in these “poor homeless drug addicts” and how much they’re paid

Fantastic work, my friend. A thousand thank yous. This is incredible, and explained by you in one sentence: "The cumulative effect of this has been to make it much more difficult for the taxpayer to hold the institutions and elected officials accountable."

Essentially, the government is all about transparency unless people use it to show the citizenry how our government is failing us. Thanks for all of the uncompensated hours you’ve put into all of this. Maybe the @sltrib or @Deseret or even @tvheidihatch can do an actual story

Wow- the fact that you caught them erasing the data in almost real time is just 🤯 They really are tracking what we know about them so they can blur the lines ahead.

The fact that Salt Lake County is doing so much to protect criminals' identifying information from public view shows where the true nature of public safety is. The legislature's ban on releasing pre trial booking photos is not helpful to helping crime prevention. In fact it impedes it. The public has a right to know who is in their jails, visually and demographically. Our legislators get one of their own relatives in a legal situation, then pass laws counterproductive to the entire system because they didn't like the way their special somebody was handled in the criminal justice system. Our legislature and public officials get bent out of shape when citizens view them as disconnected. It's policies like this that make people distrust their elected officials.

Finally got a chance to sit and read this. What a joke. I lived in Salt Lake City 10 years ago and it was one of the most mellow places I ever lived. We visited again on the way back from Cali in 2022 and it had already changed a lot. I'm sad to see Utah in this state.

The people most vulnerable to violent crime are women. The women in charge of the county and city continue to fail the women because they want to protect criminals. It’s insane. @SLCoMayor @slcmayor @slcCouncil @VoteSuz @SLCO_Sheriff @jnpearce

Those in favor of Sanctuary cities do not want citizens to see the type crimes nor how many crimes these immigrants are adding to once generally safe communities. Local politicians are creating bills to add even more immigrants and crime to communities. Why?
