Hi some saying "who on earth has that much money?". Well the truth is millions do, as well as there being millions who could never imagine it. The UK has a split economy. In the pandemic alone over £100bn extra was put in savings - while others found life getting progressively tougher. I try and answer questions for all. And this is an important one I'm getting a lot with mortgage rates rising.

Some saying "no one knows what will happens to interest rates". While true, there are many strong indicators. Yet more so what the market thinks will happen isn't just chatter it materially affects the products available today. All is explained in the pod.

How would you answer this? ------------------ Dear Martin, I am in my fifties and had never invested before due to nervousness about the stock market, but last year following your advice I put about £5,000 into a Stocks and Shares ISA. I felt very brave and happy with myself. However, the very next day, Trump bombed Iran and I lost £150 overnight. I couldn't believe my bad luck. I hurriedly took it back out again, fearing I would lose even more. What can you say to someone like me to get them investing again? When I look on the internet it's full of warnings that an even bigger stock market crash is coming. The energy Price Cap predictions for January have dropped a little, from up 25% last week it's now 'only' up 23%. We're 5 weeks through the 13wk assessment. Almost certainly it will be a big rise, likely between 15% and 30% depending on the mid east. Clearly not good whatever!
