Premier Police and Public Safety Dispatcher Union in Massachusetts

Massachusetts
Back in September, the Massachusetts Coalition of Police proudly endorsed @MassGovernor Maura Healey for reelection. This week we reaffirmed our commitment to stand beside a governor who supports unions, supports collective bargaining, and supports law enforcement. On November 3rd there is only one choice. September 11th 2001...25 years ago. A day that will forever be remembered by those of us in public safety. We lost family, friends, colleagues and our basic sense of security on that day...BUT we came together as a country to heal and hold accountable those responsible for this heinous act. We will never forget this day. Please remember those who died on September 11th and those who have died all these years after, suffering from illnesses relating to their rescue efforts. September 11th 2001 started as a beautiful day. The weather was perfect, the sky was a brilliant blue. It seemed like any other day in the end of summer/beginning of fall season. It ended with an eerie silence with no planes in the air, with people very concerned for their safety. Many were trying to figure out if they knew anyone that perished. Many were mourning the death of their loved one. Many were trying to find their loved one because they were missing and they hadn't heard from them since the attack. It is easy to let time erase the memories of that day. We will NEVER let that happen. Remember what happened that day. Remember the people who perished and the people who loved them. Remember those who protected us that day. We will always remember our brothers and sisters who lost their lives on this tragic day protecting others. #neverforget

Some great news from the Massachusetts State House today. SB2903 - An Act Honoring Blue Star Families has passed the House and Senate and is on its way to the Governor's Office for her signature. This has been a long time coming...too long. This bill will give the opportunity for certain family members to have a motor vehicle registration plate that indicates that they are a Blue Star Family member. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in advocating for this bill, especially the most important people of all...the Blue Star Families. Their involvement in this has been nothing short of amazing. They are the ones who deserve all of the honor and recognition in getting this bill passed. It has always been about them and will always be about them. We will never forget their sacrifice and we will never forget those who have gone before us. #neverforget

The Massachusetts Coalition of Police submitted written opposition to the parole of Jose Colon, who is the convicted murderer of Trooper George Hanna. People who murder police officers should never see the street again, but in this case we have an individual who continues to defy society's rules and has proven why he should not be eligible for release. #NeverForget

NAPO is appalled by the purported statements of Virginia Attorney General candidate Jay Jones regarding the killing of police officers.  It is disgusting for anyone, let alone a public official, to state that if more cops were killed there would be less officer involved shootings.  Our men and women in uniform are risking their lives day in and day out to protect our communities and this is the support they get from the person running for Attorney General? Mr. Jones is unfit to hold any public office.
