Anytime somebody criticises you, before you get worked up and start taking that shit personally, look at the fucking source first. Seriously. Would you want their life? Their mindset? Their habits? Their results? Would you wake up tomorrow and happily swap places with them? If the answer is fuck no, why are you letting their opinion sit in your head rent free?
That’s why hate comments make me laugh now. Sometimes I read one, look at who it came from and I’m like... ahhhh, there we go 😂 Mystery solved. Somebody ain’t doing shit with themselves, but somehow they’ve found the time to write a full review on somebody else’s life.
And it gets even funnier when you’re actually putting yourself out there. Showing people what you do, speaking your truth, sharing what you’ve learnt, helping people, building something, creating shit, talking about the things you actually care about. You’re taking the risk of being seen while somebody else is sat safely on the sidelines picking holes in it.
That’s always made me laugh. People who ain’t making moves love telling people making moves that they’re moving wrong.
Bro, move somewhere first.
I’ve seen that shit my whole life. The person actually trying something gets laughed at by the person trying nothing. The person speaking gets judged by the person scared to say anything. The person building gets criticised by somebody who hasn’t even laid the first brick.
Then when it works, suddenly everybody goes quiet.
And yeah, if people are talking, hating, judging, picking at everything you do while you’re out here actually putting yourself on the line, sometimes that’s a pretty good sign you’re doing something right. You made them react. Something about your movement disturbed somebody who was comfortable standing still.
I’m not saying ignore every bit of criticism either. If it comes from somebody you respect, somebody who’s actually done something, somebody whose mind or results you rate, listen. There might be gold in it.
But some random miserable fuck trying to drag you down because seeing you move reminds them they’re still in the same place?
Fam, come on.
People who are genuinely happy with themselves usually ain’t spending their whole day watching strangers, gossiping about them, judging them, comparing themselves, waiting for somebody to slip. They’ve got their own life going on.
So before you let somebody’s words piss you off, check the source.
Sometimes it’s criticism.
Sometimes it’s just bitterness wearing a mouth.
Know the difference.
