Agree fully - it isn't even a debate. There's no reason to trust something fully closed and unauditable. Yes, even some "open" solutions aren't open enough yet. But it's a journey, and the world is clearly moving from "trust me bro" to decentralized, auditable systems - because they're simply less fragile. Bitcoin has a long history of failed "trust me bro". Don't repeat it. And yes, AI is teaching us a lesson now. The answer isn't to close everything back up - it's better architecture and better engineering. Closedness and "trust me bro" are the enemy.

Following the Coldcard vulnerability disclosure, we're already seeing an increase in phishing attempts. Stay alert for scams ⚠️ • Never share your wallet backup, aka recovery seed (12/20/24 words) • Only enter your wallet backup directly on your Trezor device during recovery • Trezor will never contact you asking for your wallet backup • Never follow wallet-migration instructions from unsolicited emails, messages or phone calls Trezor devices are not affected by the Coldcard incident.

I'd like to see more unity around incidents like this. When hundreds of wallets are being swept and the root cause remains unknown, it shouldn't become an opportunity for competing manufacturers to dunk on one another or score marketing points. We should treat this more like aviation treats a crash: competitors come together, investigate what went wrong, share what they learn, and use it to make the entire ecosystem safer. Because if retirement attacks are genuinely possible, this isn't one manufacturer's problem. It strikes at the premise of Bitcoin self-custody itself. This is a moment for collective investigation, not competitive victory laps.
